North Carolina

North Carolina is located in the southeastern portion of the United State of American. The state has a wide range of elevations, from sea level on the coast to 6,684 feet at Mount Mitchell in the west, the highest point in North America east of the Mississippi River. The Outer Banks, barrier islands on the coast, are a popular tourist destination as are the Smoky Mountains on the western border with Tennessee.
